A two-and-a-half-day summer school "Smart System Integration Master Class 2017" will be given by smart-Memphis consortium and Malta University.

The school participants are invited to submit an electronic poster. The poster abstract of max 300 words may be uploaded at event registration page, acceptation is communicated by email by 30.03.2017. The poster session includes a 5 min pitch of each of the poster presenters.


The participation is free of charge but registration is obligatory. In case of no-show or cancellation of the participation after 01.06.2017, the cancellation fee is 200 EUR. The smart-MEMPHIS project covers coffee and lunch bag for two first days, however, the social dinner is paid by the participants themselves. The tentative programme is as follows:

  • Energy Harvesting materials and testing
  • Magnetic characterization
    • Measurement of magnetic properties using a vibrating sample magnetometer. 

    • Compass characterization equipment using Helmholtz coils for precise magnetic field control.

  • Mechanical characterization

    • Two axis positioning table for testing MEMS gyroscopes and accelerometers.

    • Force shaker and impact table for reliability testing of MEMS.

  • Microscopy: Temperature controlled wafer level optical microscope with electrical and mechanical probing.

  • Optical characterization: Dynamic MOEMS characterisation setup for high speed laser beam scanning micro-mirrors
