The age of (urban) aerial mobility is about to begin, promising a wide spectrum of attractive use cases in passenger transport, logistics and services. Recent progress in automation, connectivity and electrification are leading to disruptive concepts and applications of “drones”. In this regard, opportunities and barriers need to be identified in technical, legal and socioeconomic terms, and strategies for a competitive European innovation position have to be developed.
The purpose of this event is to interactively elaborate the first European research and innovation roadmap on enabling technologies for aerial urban mobility in logistics, transport and services. The workshop is prepared on behalf the Transportation Working Group of EPoSS - an industry-driven strategic initiative for intelligent controls and systems. It will bring together main players from smarts systems and aeronautics industry, startups as well as academia to prepare recommendations for the planning of dedicated innovation funding programmes of the European Union and Member States.
