New EPoSS-INSIDE White Paper: Artificial Intelligence at the Edge – A Joint European Roadmap for Edge AI

What if the future of Artificial Intelligence was not in the cloud – but at the edge?

EPoSS – the European Association on Smart Systems Integration – together with INSIDE, proudly announces the publication of the new white paper:

“Artificial Intelligence at the Edge – A Joint European Roadmap for Edge AI” (October 2025).

This publication represents a major milestone in Europe’s journey towards intelligent, decentralised computing. Building on the 2021 EPoSS AI at the Edge white paper, this updated roadmap reflects recent breakthroughs in Artificial Intelligence, particularly in Generative AI (GenAI), and their impact across the computing continuum — from cloud to edge to IoT.

The document provides:

• A comprehensive overview of the evolving cloud–edge–IoT ecosystem.
• Insights into emerging hardware architectures and innovation challenges for Edge AI.
• An analysis of global and European market trends, highlighting Europe’s growing opportunities in the Edge AI landscape.
• Clear objectives and recommendations to boost Europe’s competitiveness and sovereignty in AI-enabled systems.

The joint Edge AI Working Group, combining experts from EPoSS and INSIDE, brings together leading industrial players, SMEs, start-ups, and research organisations to drive European innovation in Edge AI — contributing to national and EU-funded initiatives, including the KDT and Chips Joint Undertakings.

A dedicated webinar will take place in November 2025 to present key findings and discuss the roadmap’s implications for research, innovation and collaboration. The exact date will be announced soon.
