Background

Electronic and microsystems technology and nanotechnologies are cross-sectional technologies that enable key functions of many products of the 21st century. They have a particular impact on the automotive industry, mechanical engineering, optics, medical technology and biotechnologies. The future goals to ensure environment sustainability of our industry are to enhance the energy efficiency of electronics systems themselves and to ensure their resource-efficient production.

Besides, intelligent electronic components and systems offer already a wide range of possibilities for making products, processes and production more sustainable and thus make valuable contributions to Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things and this trend will go on.

At the same time, new materials and technologies need to be developed for the production of smart systems in order to be able to manufacture the smart systems themselves in a greener way. In a series of two webinars, EPoSS and microTEC Südwest will try to address relevant approaches.
