The organisational structure reflects the strong orientation towards impact creation via the initiated projects. A Board, the Executive Committee and the General Assembly bundle the members’ objectives. Their operative focus translates into active Working Groups and Task Forces. The EPoSS Office closely supports all of these groups creating the EPoSS ecosystem.
The Board guides the overall strategic development of EPoSS. It consists of up to 16 members, including the Chairperson and two Vice-Chairpersons, with the majority of its members representing industry. All members of the Board are elected by the General Assembly for a period of three calendar years. The Board´s tasks include governance of the EPoSS Association, identification of objectives, development of strategies and supervision of the activities of the Executive Committee and the Office. The Honorary Board consists of persons who rendered outstanding services to the Association and its development in the past. It has a consultative role within the Board.
The Executive Committee has a key role in assisting the Board by contributing to policy development and providing advice on and representing key issues that affect the development and innovation potential of Smart Systems. It proposes initiatives and develops operational mechanisms. The Office regularly reports to the Executive Committee and collects input and feedback from its members. Delegates of the full member organisations constitute the Executive Committee.
The General Assembly consists of the delegates appointed by the full members of the Association. It elects the members of the Board, adopts resolutions concerning the Association and its members and approves objectives and strategies of the Association.
In the EPoSS Working Groups and Task Forces, the members develop long-term visions and implement corresponding roadmaps on Smart Systems Technologies in various application areas. In addition, they address emerging trends and topics. Working Groups are established for specific tasks by the Board and the Executive Committee. Each Working Group is chaired by an industry representative from the Executive Committee and involves representatives of industry, public research, and universities that are deeply involved in the targeted field of the respective Working Group.
The working groups each delegate members to the Strategic Group, which develops the overarching direction, identifies and prioritizes new topics and acts in an advisory capacity.
The Office facilitates the processes of the EPoSS Association by providing management, administration as well as communication and event services. The Office supports the Board, the Executive Committee, the Working Groups and the General Assembly in all operational matters.
