Invitation

Worldwide, research and innovation programmes focus on turning scientific breakthroughs into innovative products and services that provide business opportunities and improve people’s lives. Horizon 2020 sets out three strategic policy objectives - raising and spreading the levels of excellence in the research base, tackling major societal challenges and maximising competitive impacts of research and innovation. This supports innovative enterprises to develop viable products with real commercial potential.

Smart systems do not only hold an enormous potential for a wide range of applications, they are also enabled by many technologies and act as enablers for many future technologies. For that reason, they are crucial for the competitiveness of companies and entire industry sectors like transport and mobility, health, manufacturing/factory automation, communication, energy, aerospace as well as environment.

Smart Systems Integration Conference 2014 addresses innovative smart systems, their manufacturing technologies as well as the international research work on smart technologies and smart materials. Special attention is paid to integration issues in order to guarantee reliability, safety and security of the systems. For the first time, software for smart integrated systems is addressed. This includes embedded software as well as stand-alone application software.

On behalf of the committee, the co-chair – Dr. G. Lugert of Siemens AG and chairman of EPoSS Executive Committee – and the local co-chairs from Austria – Dr. M. Riester (maris TechCon), Prof. W. Pribyl (Joanneum Research and Graz University of Technology), Prof. U. Schmid (Vienna University of Technology), Prof. J. Nicolics, (Vienna University of Technology) and Dr. I. Hochmair (MED-EL Medical Electronics) – the conference chair Prof. Dr. Thomas Gessner is looking forward to receiving your application-oriented and / or scientific submission.
