The results will generate a snapshot of the EU Smart Systems supply chain and recommendations of actions to stimulate its success. They will also provide the foundation for applications and technology roadmaps that will be published in the new EPoSS Strategic Research Agenda. Please provide your contribution by 30 June 2012.
Smart Systems are the next stage in the evolution of micro- and nano- technology, adding data processing to sensing, actuating and communication to bring abilities to analyse complex situations, take autonomous decisions and ultimately be predictive.
A pdf is available which shows a diversity of examples.
The whole Smart Systems supply chain – from research, component and equipment suppliers to designers, manufacturers and users – is invited to help build a picture of the future of Smart Systems by completing a short on-line survey at:
IRISS Smart Systems Technology SurveyThe basic survey, which takes about 10 minutes to complete, contains questions about the application of Smart Systems, the technologies used, the scale of business activities now and in the future, and the drivers, difficulties and need for support in growing Smart Systems opportunities for Europe.
All data provided will be anonymised. Moreover, the questions may be answered "no opinion" if contributors feel unsure about any answer.
At the end of the basic survey there is the opportunity to contribute to specialist surveys on detailed technologies, applications, manufacturing equipment and product development opportunities.
Each specialist topic only takes a couple of minutes to complete, and contributors are not expected to contribute to them all. The index to the specialist surveys is at:
IRISS Smart Systems Specialist SurveysThe objective of the IRISS programme is to secure and extend the competitive advantages of European industry, to make Europe the world’s number 1 in Smart Systems research, innovation and production.
- The results of the basic survey will generate a snapshot of the EU Smart Systems supply chain and recommendations of actions to stimulate its success.
- The specialist surveys will provide the foundation for applications
and technology roadmaps that will be published in the new EPoSS
Strategic Research Agenda.
Please provide your contribution by 30 June 2012.
Contributors will be alerted to the above outcomes as soon as they become available.
IRISS is funded by the European Commission in FP7 (grant agreement number 287842).
