Carmelo Papa of STMicroelectronics re-elected Chairman of EPoSS

During this year's EPoSS General Assembly, held on 26th September in Paris, EPoSS members elected the EPoSS board which is made up of the Chairman and five Vice-Chairmen. The board members will lead the Platform for the next two years.

Carmelo Papa, Executive Vice President and General Manager of ST’s Industrial and Multisegment Sector, has been re-elected Chairman of EPoSS for his second consecutive two-year term at this year's EPoSS General Assembly which took place in Paris on 26th September.

In his second term at the head of EPoSS, Papa aims to further strengthen the organization’s role in key European initiatives, including ‘Green Cars,’ ‘Internet of Things’ and ‘Factories of the Future.’ His other priorities include driving the EPoSS Strategic Research Agenda to identify new application challenges, such as robotics, and defining development paths at both the technology and systems level.

Carmelo Papa continues in his role at ST, which includes overall responsibility for developing a wide range of products including sensors, power and analog chips, microcontrollers, application-specific non-volatile memories and smart card ICs. He is a member of ST’s Corporate Strategic Committee and sits on the Board of Directors of ST New Ventures (see also ST's press release).

During the same meeting, the EPoSS General Assembly also (re-)elected five Vice-Chairmen.

Renzo Dal Molin (Sorin Group CRM) was newly elected as EPoSS Vice-Chairman. He follows Alain Ripart of Sorin, who has served as EPoSS Vice-Chairman from the early days of the ETP but has not presented himself as a candidate due to his imminent retirement. The other new EPoSS Vice-Chairman is Stefan Finkbeiner (Akustica, Inc. Bosch Group).

Nevio Di Giusto (Fiat Group Automobiles and Fiat Research Center), Giulio Ruffini (Starlab) and Hannu Laatikainen (Murata Electronics Oy) were re-elected as EPoSS Vice-Chairmen.
