IRISS Actions at SSI 2013: Presentation of Draft SRA and SME Tutorial

At SSI 2013 which is part of the activities of EPoSS and will be held in Amsterdam, 13-14 March 2013, a draft version of the new Smart Systems SRA together with strategies for its implementation. In addition, a tutorial session dedicated to SMEs will be held.

Presentation of draft version of the new Smart Systems Integration SRA

The new Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) on Smart Systsems Integration is currently being developed by the Smart Systems community. The work is coordinated and co-funded by IRISS in the framework of the Work Package on roadmapping exercises linking application requirements with SSI needs and the identification of new research needs. The SRA work involved:

  • a survey to gather data on sector activities, technologies, drivers, barriers, turnover and headcount in SSI
  • evaluation of the survey results, and experts work on SWOT analysis, research priorities, subsector roadmaps, timelines and prospects for the most relevant sectors, technologies and production processes
The resulting draft SRA will provide comprehensive data on 7 sectors, 32 subsectors, 12 technologies, 10 production processes and safety & security as a horizontal topic.

SME Tutorial

The IRISS Work Package on cooperation between the actors along the value chain of Smart Systems Integration with a focus on SMEs has developed a tutorial dedicated to the main needs of SMEs which were previously gathered through interviews and an online questionnaire. The resulting tutorial covers the following topics:

  • Funding Opportunities
  • Networking
  • Success Stories
  • Technological alignement-SRA
  • Clusters and Supply Chains through a Round Table discussion

These different tutorial modules will be presented in a dedicated tutorial session at SSI 2013 and will later be made available to the community through this website.
