The Application for the ECS Summer School is now open!
The 4th edition of the ECS Summer School will take place from 23 to 28 August 2026 in Bertinoro, Italy, near Bologna. Following the success of previous editions, the Summer School returns to Italy to once again offer an immersive and high-level learning experience in semiconductor and microelectronics ecosystem. The ECS Summer School 2026 will welcome 40 selected undergraduate students from across Europe for an intensive week of academic lectures, technical sessions and industry-driven insights.
Applicants must be enrolled in a STEM discipline at a university located in the European Union or an associated country and demonstrate a good command of English, which is required to fully engage in the programme.
From a practical standpoint, the ECS Summer School is fully funded for selected participants, with food and accommodation covered throughout the week. This approach ensures that students from diverse backgrounds can take part in the programme under equal conditions and focus entirely on learning and exchange.
Students interested in applying are encouraged to start preparing their CVs in advance, as the call for applications will open in the coming months. Universities, Research and Technology Organisations, and academic partners are warmly invited to share this Save the Date with their students and networks to help disseminate the opportunity as widely as possible.
The ECS Summer School 2026 is co-organised by EPoSS together with the European Chips Skills Academy, the AENEAS and INSIDE Industry Associations, reflecting a strong collective commitment to skills development and talent nurturing in Europe’s microelectronics and smart systems sectors.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The ECS Summer School is open to undergraduate students who, by the time of the Summer School:
• have completed at least two years of university studies,
• have at least one year remaining before completing their undergraduate degree,
• are enrolled in a STEM discipline,
• study at a university located in the EU or an associated country,
• have a good command of English, as all sessions will be held in English.

SELECTION PROCESS
Selection will be based on the motivation letter, one to three optional recommendation letters, and grade transcripts. It will take into account gender and geographical balance and will ensure diversity of the student backgrounds. Selection results will be communicated to the students on 5 May 2026.
