On 5 September 2025, the European Commission has launched a Public Consultation and Call for Evidence on the evaluation and review of the Chips Act. They kindly invite stakeholders to provide feedback on the current functioning of the Chips Act and on possible future adaptations to ensure the Act remains fit for purpose in light of changing market, technological and geopolitical realities.
The evaluation of the Chips Act is officially scheduled for September 2026, but the Commission has decided to accelerate the process as part of the AI Continent Action Plan, with a revision proposal potentially tabled as early as Q2 2026. The feedback gathered now will therefore play a decisive role in shaping Europe’s semiconductor policy framework for the years ahead.

Commission launches Public Consultation and Call for Evidence
The questionnaire in the public consultation seeks stakeholders’ views on the adequacy of the current Chips Act and on potential improvements and new avenues for action. There are different questions for different stakeholder groups.
All parts of the semiconductor value chain – from IDMs, fabricators, design houses, equipment manufacturers, and industrial users (e.g., automotive, telecom, healthcare, energy, robotics, defence), to SMEs, start-ups, RTOs, investors, trade associations, NGOs, and independent experts – are strongly encouraged to participate. The European Commission especially welcomes scientific evidence, data, and quantitative analysis to strengthen the evaluation base.
