Join Consultation Workshop on EU Material and Equipment Qualification on Pilot Lines!

Join us in shaping the Chips JU Work Programme 2027!

In preparation of the Work Programme 2027, the Chips JU is organising a consultation workshop on October 5th, 2026. The workshop will explore how the Pilot Lines established under the Chips for Europe Initiative can support the qualification of semiconductor materials and equipment developed or produced in Europe, with a view to widening the range of qualified European alternatives available to the semiconductor industry and reducing dependencies on single sources of supply.

It will bring together stakeholders from Pilot Lines projects, European suppliers of semiconductor materials and equipment, industrial users, and the Electronic Components and Systems community to exchange views on:

  • the materials and equipment for which European alternatives exist or could be developed, and where qualification is the main barrier to their adoption
  • the qualification capabilities and needs of the pilot lines, both common across lines and specific to their technologies
  • the experience of suppliers and industrial users with qualification, and the conditions under which pilot line results can support qualification in industrial facilities
  • the possible scope, expected outcomes and contributors of a topic in the Work Programme 2027

The outcome of the workshop will inform the Chips JU boards in their decision on the topics of the Work Programme 2027.

Agenda outline:

  • Introduction on the policy context (European Commission / 5 minutes)
  • Introduction on the goals and expected outcomes of the workshop and overview of related existing Chips JU or HE projects (CHIPS JU / 10 minutes)
  • Pitches from participants: pilot lines on their materials and equipment base and qualification practice, suppliers of materials and equipment, industrial users, industry associations (maximum 10 minutes each)
  • Q&A session
  • Wrap-Up and next steps
