MNE is a major annual international conference, devoted to micro and nano engineering, held in a European country every September. The conference brings together engineers and scientists from across the world to discuss recent progress and future trends in the fabrication, manufacturing, operation and application of micro and nano-structures and devices. Applications in electronics, magnetics, photonics, electromechanics, environment and life sciences are also discussed.

MNE 2014

In September 2014, MNE will take place in Lausanne, Switzerland in the new Swiss Tech Conference Center on the EPFL campus overlooking Lake Geneva and the Savoy Alps. It is estimated that the conference will attract 500-800 participants.

The conference will start with a welcome reception, held on Monday, 22 September 2014 in the evening. The technical sessions will be held from Tuesday 23 through to Friday 26 September, with the meeting closing on Friday. The programme combines plenary and parallel oral sessions featuring invited presentations by a number of internationally recognised experts and will also include both contributed oral and poster presentations. Accepted abstracts will be assigned to oral or poster presentations, based on recommendations from the International Programme Committee. In addition there will be a technical exhibition where exhibitors can display commercial tools, materials and software of direct interest to the community.

Scope of the conference

The MNE Conference will address questions concerning micro and nano-fabrication and manufacturing employing lithography and other patterning related approaches, and the use of the resulting structures and devices for scientific research and technological applications. The themes will include:

  • Photon, Electron and Ion-Based Lithography
  • Micro and Nano Fabrication Methods
  • Micro/Nano Devices for Physical Sciences and their Fabrication
  • Micro/Nano Systems and their Fabrication
  • Micro/Nano devices for Life Sciences and their fabrication

An important feature of MNE 2014 will be the major trade exhibition of related equipment, tools materials and software, which will be held in conjunction with the conference. The exhibition, which is traditionally well attended by delegates and external invitees, will be designed to showcase the latest in developments now commercially available.
