The event, which will focus on Horizon 2020 - the EU's Framework Programme for Research and Innovation for 2014-2020 - is considered the biggest ICT event in Europe and expects to receive more than 4000 attendees, including researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, industry representatives, young people and politicians.

Conference

The conference will be led by top ICT professionals from industry, academia, research and by leading politicians.

The Vice President of the European Commission, Neelie Kroes and the President of the Republic of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaitė will open the conference.

Speakers from across the ICT sector will address a range of issues from cloud computing, broadband, ICT infrastructures, ICT skills, cyber security, long term visions on the future and much more. Experts will present details on how to participate in the next EU's Research Programme - Horizon 2020. 

The conference consists of three thematic plenaries:

  • Create: Disruptive and inspirational ICT research and innovation;
  • Connect: Smashing silos, building bridges, exploiting synergies;
  • Grow: Let's hear it from the private sector, let's hear it fromt the start-ups and SMEs. Let's cluster;

and three parts focusing on different themes of ICT research:

  • ICT for Excellent science:
  • Exascale: challenges and benefits.
  • Nano-scale: Future Materials and Devices.
  • Human-Scale: Access to Information.
  • ICT for Industrial Leadership:
  • Uplifting Europe's industrial capability: Investing in ICT and Key Enabling Technologies.
  • Innovating by exploiting big and open data and digital content.
  • Unleashing the potentials of Future Internet & Cloud.
  • ICT for Societal challenges:
  • Citizens - Innovation for better living.
  • Communities - Smarter living.
  • Government - More than the sum of the parts.

A special focus is given to Digital Futures - a journey into 2050's futures and policy challenges.

Exhibition

An exhibition will look into the future, and show how ICT can help create jobs, and build a more competitive Europe.

EC-suported projects and individual companies will showcase their products and their most innovative ICT creations.

The Commission will publish an open call in March 2013 to select more than 150 exhibits, grouped around different themes and visions. 

Networking Sessions

The ICT2013 event is a unique opportunity for networking. You have a specific topic to propose and discuss? Bid for a dedicated networking slot at the ICT2013 event - you will be visible before, at and after the event!

The networking sessions are part of the ICT 2013 event.

The networking sessions provide the participants with the opportunity:

  • To share their own ideas on a particular policy, technology or research and innovation theme in the context of Horizon 2020;
  • To be exposed to the views, perspectives and ideas of other participants and engage in a constructive dialogue with them;
  • To meet delegates with common or similar topical interests with whom they could collaborate in the future.

The sessions last 40 minutes. The reports of every session will be published online.

Participants can propose topics for networking sessions related to ICT in all parts of Horizon 2020 provided they meet the selection criteria.

Investment Forum

The investment forum will hoast coaching and pitching sessions with investors for startups and innovative SMEs.

The forum will be combined with discussions and networking sessions on ICT market and investment trends, addressing in particular the situation in Eastern Europe.

Companies will learn on how to make their ICT business attractive to venture capital investors, receiving feedback from Business Angels and corporate investors.

Students and Young Researchers

ICT 2013 is an opportunity for students and young researchers to learn about ICT research opportunities and meet with researchers, entrepreneurs, strategy and policy makers.

You are young? Interested in knowing more about ICT research? - ICT 2013 is also for you!

  • Become ICT 2013 student ambassador! A student ambassador will report about ICT2013 online and have an opportunity to meet in person high-level policy makers: Digital champions, Young advisors, top researchers, and successful entrepreneurs. You can submit your application from April 2013.
  • Present your own ICT project! Students are invited to submit their innovative ICT research projects for a competition. 8 best projects will be invited to present them at ICT 2013 in Vilnius. 3 best projects will be awarded in the event.
  • Visit ICT 2013! You can visit the conference on your own or ask for a guided tour for a group of students.  The conference will have a specific area for young people where speakers and conference delegates can come to meet and exchange ideas with young people.
  • Follow ICT 2013 online! Follow from the distance what is happening in the event and what interesting things the student ambassadors are reporting from the sessions, meetings and exhibition.
