The workshop has the following targets:

  • Enable technology research and innovation to be oriented towards unmet medical needs, a prerequisite for a fast translation of ideas and technologies to solutions; health practitioners, authorities, industry and market players will detail these needs in the “unmet user needs” session.
  • Introduce emerging technology and systems which are on the verge to solutions/products or gained product status very recently. These success stories from all over Europe will be presented to stimulate the discussion of key elements and exchange best practice in research and innovation (Advanced technology prototypes & solutions session).
  • The highly-regulated environment and the conservative approach to innovations are specific and necessary in fields that require to deal responsible with the highest good of the citizens. Resulting barriers and obstacles for a fast deployment of solutions and how to remove them are the topic of the final session. It will also introduce the instrument “pilot action”, pre-commercial public procurement and public procurement of innovation, SME support and other collaboration opportunities for innovation among users, industry, technology providers and public authorities as potential remedies to remove some of the barriers (Innovation Challenges & Solutions session).
