Call for Papers for the SSI 2009 in Brussels
Invitation to the Call for Papers for the Smart Systems Integration in Brussels on 10-11 March 2009
Micro and nanotechnologies along with the latest information and
communications technologies are driving the future of product
innovation and economic growth in numerous sectors, including consumer
electronics, automotive, medical and life sciences, IT peripherals,
logistics, industrial and process control, and security systems. The
economic success of both manufacturers and users in these sectors is
dependent in the main on system-oriented design, system and component
development and miniaturized packaging. A high level of technology is
vital if a company is to remain competitive over the long term. System
integration brings together a multitude of technologies, materials and
processes in the production of a completely new product. Micro and
nanotechnologies, special surfaces and materials are just as important
as systems, components and reliability. Intelligent system integration
throughout the value-added chain is necessary for reducing the lead
time for product development. The impact and importance of system
integration are considerable – both technologically and
economically.
On behalf of the Committee, the Co-chair – Dr. Günter Lugert of Siemens AG and Chairman of the EPoSS Steering Committee – and the Local Co-chair – Prof. Dr. Chris van Hoof of IMEC – , I look forward to receiving your scientific and / or application oriented submission.
