Dear Sir or Madam,

Smart Systems more and more constitute the decisive devices for product innovations and new applications. Smart systems are ranging from current highly integrated systems for control and energy management of cars up to the future smart, active sensing systems with integrated communication and identification functionality which will provide the basis of the future "Internet of things". Miniaturising and integrating functions and intelligence into conventional and new components and materials is crucial for the implementation of the vision of ambient intelligence.
